Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a secure, supportive environment where every young person feels safe, respected, and able to thrive. Our safeguarding approach is proactive, inclusive, and built on strong partnerships with families, staff, and external agencies.

As part of our safeguarding commitment, we participate in a number of local and national initiatives designed to protect and support students both in and outside of school. One such initiative is Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass

As part of our safeguarding commitment, The Castle Rock Sixth Form takes part in Operation Encompass—a national initiative that supports children and young people who may be affected by domestic abuse.

Through this partnership with Leicestershire PoliceLeicester City Council, and Leicestershire County Council, schools are notified when the police attend a domestic abuse incident where a child or young person is present or normally resides. This allows our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to offer timely and appropriate support to those students, ensuring their wellbeing is prioritised in a sensitive and confidential manner.

We understand that witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse can have a significant emotional impact, even if a young person is not directly involved. Operation Encompass helps us respond quickly and compassionately, providing the right support at the right time.

All information shared with the school is handled with the utmost care and is only shared with staff on a strictly need-to-know basis—for example, with a class teacher or pastoral lead. It is never shared with other students.

If you or someone you know is affected by domestic abuse, confidential support is available. You can contact the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0800 802 0028.
